As is probably obvious, this 20in20 isn't active anymore. Late May 2016, I posted on LJ to ask for a new mod and then I pretty much disappeared from LJ, Dreamwidth and other blogging like pages as life called for most of my attention.

If anyone is interested in modding either or both 20in20s, I'm willing to hand it over. I think it might be easier to keep them separated as it can be rather easy to be overwhelmed with updating both sign ups to avoid duplicate claims and tallying votes is even more fun (not).

I figured I'd at least put an official note up.

This is just a little note to let you know that the tiebreakers/results as well as the new prompts will likely not be posted before the 2nd. I'm visiting a friend (leaving in less than an hour) and I might stay until the 2nd. Unfortunately everyone apparently wanted to meet before the year ended and I ended up not having time to get around to closing the polls yet. (So if you haven't voted yet, this is your chance ;) )

Last, but not least: I hope everyone has a save journey into the new year!

Sorry for being so late with taking care of things! Being sick at the beginning of the week seems to have eaten up all of my motivation for things other than reading.

By request I've opened another front on Livejournal for this community. lotrth20in20. I added the "th" since there was already an abandoned community. I'll start crossposting on post communities today. And hopefully, I'll get around to setting up a nicer layout on lj today as well.

How will this work?

Sign Ups will be open on both communities and pile together as one list. Please be honest and only sign up once - it doesn't matter on which side you do.

If you have a journal both here and there, feel free to post any finished sets in both locations. I probably won't crosspost icons, but I do tend to update the sign up list with the submitted links. I might add links on the reminder posts, if I remember to do that

The voting posts will be posted to both communities and the votes will be added together.

This hopefully means more participants, but other than that not a whole lot should be changed for this community.

With 0 out of 2 entries submitted (also the rest of today is left to make icons) I wondered if I should extend this round (possibly using the prompts for February as well) or close it without any entries and simply start a new round.

Or is everybody iconed out/too busy and the list of participants will be equally low next round?

Hello and welcome to lotr20in20!

This community will be a 20in20 icon challenge for the movies of Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.

The first round will probably open at the end of this month (sign ups) with the prompts posted on October 1st! I should have everything set up by then :)

Currently I'm planning the following claim options:
- specific characters
- (potentially) groups of minor characters (e.g. The Sackville Bagginses, Elves [focusing on minor characters], Riders of Rohan, Orcs...): there's no limit for icons of single characters
- (potentially) pairings: all characters must be present in at least a certain amount of icons (most likely 15 or so)

Minor characters in this sense would be those without enough screentime to offer enough (differing) source images to fit all the given prompts.
